TPAC celebrated its 10th anniversary
|
|
|
The brand-new TPAC laboratory is officially up and running! Last week, we marked this significant moment with a special ceremony where our partners joined in to celebrate this milestone as well as TPAC's 10-year anniversary.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
We deeply appreciate the contributions of the speakers, attendees, and everyone involved in making this event a success, as well as our valued partners who have collaborated with us over the past decade. We are looking forward to at least another 10 years of TPAC, full of collaborations with industrial partners, students and teachers and other research centres.

We are happy to introduce to you our new colleagues: Menno Jan Rietema and Jesse Haaksman!

“I joined TPAC in December last year as a researcher. My background is in Mechanical Engineering. For my graduation project I did research on 3D-printing filament with continuous fibre reinforcement. In this project, which was in collaboration with TPAC, I really liked the mix of designing, programming, prototyping and testing. My current work at TPAC is also about 3D manufacturing with continuous fibre reinforcement. One of the fields of interest is to create reinforced inserts for overmoulding of thermoplastic products.

|
The project involves designing tool heads for a robot, creating toolpaths and controlling the external electronics. A very versatile and challenging project, in which I can contribute and learn a lot!”

|
|
|
I started at TPAC at the beginning of this month. At the end of November, I graduated as an Industrial Design Engineer at the University of Twente. In my graduation research I combined lab work with digital models to make accurate predictions about the stiffness behaviour of the composite rollers. I really enjoyed this combination of practical- and digital work on composite structures. Hence, I set out to find a place to expand my knowledge within this field.

|
Here at TPAC I think I have found the perfect place to keep developing myself within the world of composites while producing meaningful innovations to the industry. I am looking forward to my work here in the upcoming projects!

'Appreciation for the work we deliver'

Ten years ago, Saxion's ThermoPlastic composites Application Centre (TPAC) was born. Over the years it has developed into an innovation hub where lightweight applications are developed for the regional and international industry. The anniversary was recently celebrated with an expansion of the lab.

Wednesday the 10th of January we showed an enthusiastic group of students from Saxion’s study-association Archimedes what we do in our lab. We demonstrated various machines, and thanks to the curiosity of the students, we had some interesting discussions!
A big thank you to SV Archimedes for facilitating the visit. We look forward to further collaboration to inspire more students about the research we do!
