SAVE THE DATE: The upcoming Sampe Benelux spring meeting will take place on Wednesday the 5th of June at ThermoPlastic composites Application Center (TPAC) in Enschede. This event will feature interesting speakers from amongst others Solico Engineering B.V., Cato Composites BV, SPIRAL Recycled Thermoplastic Composites B.V. and of course TPAC. As always, the spring meeting is preceded by the Sampe Benelux student meeting on Tuesday the 4th of June. We hope to see you all in Enschede ps: the registration link will follow on the Sampe Benelux Website.

In 2024, TPAC is proud to welcome a diverse group of student for their internship or graduation assignments. Our current group includes students from fields varying from #Mechatronics, #Mechanical #Engineering and #Industrial #Design. Either from Hogeschool Saxion, ROC van Twente or the University of Twente. Today the kick-off took place of the lighthouse 1 Next TPC manufacturing solutions project as part of our Intereg "Manufacturing Next Materials" together with ThermoPlastic composites Application Center (TPAC).

One of the research lines of the ThermoPlastic composites Application Center (TPAC) is "Recycling". An advantage of thermoplastic in comparison to thermoset materials is their recyclability. At TPAC we investigate various recycling routes and research different waste streams, varying from post-industrial to post-consumer waste. Together with SPIRAL Recycled Thermoplastic Composites B.V. we conducted research in the recycling of post-industrial C/PPS waste into an injection molding compound. We are happy to introduce to you our new colleague: Jesse Haaksman! “I started working at the ThermoPlastic composites Application Center (TPAC) last month. At the end of November, I graduated as an Industrial Design Engineer at the University of Twente. In my graduation research I combined lab work with digital models to make accurate predictions about the stiffness behaviour of the composite rollers. I really enjoyed this combination of practical- and digital work on composite structures. Hence, I set out to find a place to expand my knowledge within this field. Here at TPAC I think I have found the perfect place to keep developing myself within the world of composites while producing meaningful innovations to the industry. I am looking forward to my work here in the upcoming projects!”

🎉👏💡Today, we kicked off the Interreg Deutschland-Nederland project “Manufacturing Next Materials”: Innovative future technologies from the German-Dutch border region for a sustainable future 👇👇👇   The project #MNM promotes innovations in the field of material development and the corresponding production technologies. We are focussing in particular on future topics such as modern #lightweight #construction, #additive #manufacturing and #battery #materials. The project supports #SMEs from the German-Dutch border region in development and scale-up of such technologies.   The internal kick-off meeting with the partners Oost NL, NMWP Management GmbH, Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij (BOM), the Rapid Technology Centre at the Universität Duisburg-Essen, ThermoPlastic composites Application Center (TPAC), Cato Composites BV, Fraunhofer Innovation Platform for Advanced Manufacturing at the University of Twente, Universität Münster, Fraunhofer-Einrichtung Forschungsfertigung Batteriezelle FFB took place today.   In addition to the development of the three lighthouse projects, we are particularly looking forward to the innovative project ideas from the high-tech community. We are happy to introduce to you our new colleague: Menno Jan Rietema! “I joined TPAC in December last year as a researcher. My background is in Mechanical Engineering. For my graduation project I did research on 3D-printing filament with continuous fiber reinforcement. In this project, which was in collaboration with TPAC, I really liked the mix of designing, programming, prototyping and testing. My current work at TPAC is also about 3D manufacturing with continuous fiber reinforcement. One of the fields of interest is to create reinforced inserts for overmoulding of thermoplastic products. The project involves designing toolheads for a robot, creating toolpaths and controlling the external electronics. A very versatile and challenging project, in which I can contribute and learn a lot!”
