Dr. ir. Erik Krämer studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Twente, specializing in thermoplastic composites. He continued his career with a PhD research project at the ThermoPlastic Composites Research Center (TPRC), where he investigated defects that occur during the manufacturing process of thermoplastic composite components for the aerospace industry.

After completing his PhD, he started working as a business development manager at TPRC. In that role, he led research projects on manufacturing technologies for lightweight thermoplastic composite materials, collaborating with international companies in the aerospace sector. Later, he supervised eight PhD candidates within TPRC’s roadmap research as technical director. Since 2024, Krämer has been working as technical director in the Lightweight Structures research group within the Life Science, Engineering & Design (LED) academy at Saxion.
