DECOREC

Summary

A major problem of products made of post-consumer recyclates, such as PP and PE, are the aesthetic properties of the product surface. As thermoplastic products are provided in many different colors, hence the color of products made of recyclates cannot be controlled with current state technology. Despite many purification techniques, unevenness in the product surface arises due to small contaminations such as sand particles. In this project, materials with particularly attractive surface properties are developed by combining recycled textile fibers with post-consumer recyclates and bio-based binders. The project aims at developing a suitable industrial mixing process.
