Mattress recycling

Summary

In the Netherlands around 25.000 kg of flexible polyurethane foam mattresses enters the waste system on a yearly base. Currently no feasible recycling method is available for the foam because recycling of polyurethanes is complex. Together with our partners Deron B.V. and Lightspeed B.V. the feasibility of thermal and mechanical recycling will be reviewed. Deron B.V. is a manufacturer of high quality, full foam mattresses for the healthcare sector. Together with Lightspeed B.V., a healthcare supplier, and Deron B.V. potential new applications of recycled mattresses foam will be investigated.
