The need for cost-effective thermoplastic composites in industrial applications outside high performance areas is rapidly expanding. The weight saving trend particularly in the automotive sector is increasingly important due to more stringent CO2 emission policies. However, due to fundamental material limitations novel manufacturing processes are steadily investigated to reduce total material amounts and costs, improve the thermo-mechanical performance, and even increase processing speeds.
OBJECTIVE
Development of cost-effective manufacturing processes for long and continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic products comprising low weight and improved material properties
Keywords: Cost-effective processes, Long fiber reinforced thermoplastics, Continuous fiber inserts, Composite tape placement, Injection molding , Compression molding
